Dr. Thomas M. Wilson, 52 of Nevada, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Visitation was held June 26, 2009 at the Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 27 at the Cornerstone Church in Ames. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Tom was born in Harlan, Iowa to Maurice and Jean (Parquet) Wilson on January 13, 1957. He was a 1975 graduate of Avoca-Hancock High School. He received a B.A. in Sociology and a B.S. in Psychology from Iowa State University in 1982. He went on to complete a Psychology doctorate from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in 1990. He was a practicing psychologist with Clinical Associates in Ames and a consulting psychologist to Youth and Shelter Services for 18 years. Tom enjoyed golfing and served on the Board of Indian Creek Country Club in Nevada. He also thoroughly enjoyed traveling the world with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Wilson, son Ian Wilson and daughter Kelsey Wilson, all of Nevada; two sisters, Patti Annis (Wilson) of Athens, GA and Kathy Hull (Wilson) of Harlan, IA; one brother, Steve Wilson of St. Louis, MO; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Jean Wilson.
Gifts in honor of Dr. Wilson's life may be made to Youth and Shelter Services in Ames or Indian Creek Country Club in Nevada or Cornerstone Church in Ames.
Chet Ryan Mortuary was entrusted with Tom and his family.
