Wilbur “Muggs” Myers, 82, of Marshalltown and formerly of Nevada, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services are pending at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Wilbur E. “Muggs” Myers, 82, of Marshalltown, formerly of Nevada, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. A graveside memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Nevada Municipal Cemetery with full military rites.
Muggs was born April 14, 1927, in Colo, to Clarence A. and Orphia (Meyers) Myers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 16, 1946, Muggs married Gloria Jean Rasmusson at the Lutheran Church in Nevada. He was a member of the William F. Ball American Legion Post 48 and the VFW Nevada Post 2209.
Muggs is survived by one son, Mark (Rita) Myers, of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, Jeff Myers, Tara Little, Leslie Sweet and Darren Beeler; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Karen) Myers, of Marshalltown; and several nieces and nephews.
Muggs was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloria on June 4, 1998; one daughter, Vicky Beeler on Sept. 5, 1995; one sister, Isabell Vincent; and three brothers, Cecil, Earnie and Jack Myers.
