THE NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, June 25, 2009.

Glen Jordan Groomes, 78, formerly of Nevada, died on Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27 at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 5th Street in Nevada with Pastor David R. Burling officiating. Private cremain interment will be held in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Glen was born on November 21, 1930 in Iowa Falls to Glen and Velma (Jordan) Groomes.

Glen is survived by his daughter, Denice Groomes of Nevada; sons Steve (Sandi) Groomes of St. Clair, MO and Brent Groomes of Cedar Falls; daughter-in-law, Joni (Liston) Grosso of Charlotte, NC; sister Nancy (Don) McLean of Ames; nine grandchildren, D. J. Bylund, Michelle Wall, Jennifer Meyer, Ryan Groomes, Jordan Groomes, Matt Groomes, Andy Groomes, Rob Groomes, and K.C. Groomes; and eight great grandchildren.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin and sister Garnette.

Memorials may be directed in Glen's memory to Iowa Hospice or Nevada High School Athletic Department.
