MERLIN CHRISTENSEN
Merlin "Art" Christensen, 71, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1982 at his home in Colo.
He was born March 30, 1911 in Ute, Iowa, the son of James and Mary Christensen and attended the Denison, Iowa schools. In 1935 he married Deloris Spenden. She died in 1936. On Nov. 10, 1953, he married Dorothy Miller in Casper, Wyoming.
The couple moved back to Iowa in 1954 and have lived the past 12 years in Colo. Mr. Christensen was a retired chef and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Rev. James Christensen of La Cresenta, Calif; three step children, Jerry Miller, Richard Miller and Bobbie Lee Corwin of Marshalltown; three brothers, Oscar of Vale, Iowa, Harry of Denison, Iowa, and Lyle of California; three sisters, Violet Keating of Albuquerque, N.M., Evelyn Hulsebus of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and twin sister Myrtle Rath of Denison, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Deloris, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Colo United Methodist Church with Rev. James Tenor officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memory Gardens, Nevada.
The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Graveside military service will be by the American Legion, Colo Post No. 139.
