ROYAL SPENCER
Royal Lee Spencer, 59, of Nevada, died Friday, April 2, 1982 at Story County Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1922 in Alliance, Neb., the son of Ray and Mildred Blair Spencer. He was a 1940 graduate of Alliance High School. On July 20, 1950, he married Eva M. See at Nevada.
Mr. Spencer was employed in Davenport following WW II and when Ray Koeder purchased the Nevada Bakery in 1949, Royal came with him. He also worked in the Ames and Altoona bakeries. He was employed as a baker until suffering a heart attack in January.
He was a member of the Ames Moose Lodge.
Mr. Spencer served in the U.S. Army four years during W.W.II and was called back during the Korean War and served one year.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; three sons, Howard of Zearing and Charles and Michael of Nevada; a daughter, Karla Spencer of Nevada; a brother, Richard Spencer of Alliance, Neb.; his mother, Mildred Spencer Thurston of Alliance, Neb.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 5, at the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, with Rev. Daniel Osterhout officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memory Gardens, Nevada.
