Funeral services were held Monday at Erickson funeral home at 1:30 and at Bergen Lutheran church at 2:00, for Mrs. Marion Gilreath, who died Thursday, June 20, at her home in Arvada, Colorado. Services were conducted by the Rev. Allen E. Nelson.
Music at the service was funished by the Bergen Ladies' Triple Trio, who sang "Lord, Thy Will Be Done", and "Peace I Leave With You." They were accompanied by Mrs. Otto J. Hanson.
Pall bearers were Pete Handsaker of Fernald, Russell Chitty of Nevada, Herb Hauser of Whitten, George Larson of Garden City, Alvin Nelson of Nevada, and Victor McKinney of Colo. Interment was in the Roland cemetery.
Viola Danielson Gilreath was born on the Danielson farm four miles south of Roland, on April 9, 1912, the daughter of Rachel and John Danielson. She passed away at 10:30 a.m., June 20, 1957, at her home in Arvada, Colorado, at the age of 45 years, 3 months and 11 days.
She lived near her place of birth until 1947, when the family moved to Lyons, Colo. In December, 1956, they moved to Arvada, Colo. She had been in ill health the past two years.
Until moving to Colorado, Mrs. Gilreath was a member of Bergen Lutheran church in Roland, where she was baptized, and was confirmed by the late Rev. M. O. Sumstad.
A graduate of Milford Township Consolidated School in 1929, she attended Iowa State Teachers college for one year, after which she taught in the Sheffield country school.
She was married to Marion G. Gilreath on June 17, 1931, at the J. S. Danielson farm.
Surviving are her husband, Marion; two sons, Marion Jr. and Douglas; one daughter, Carolyn; and three grandsons, Ronald, Mark and David, all of Arvada. She also leaves her father, John S. Danielson of Nevada; a sister, Mrs. Claude W. Smith of Storm Lake; and three brothers, Morris and Ray Danielson of Nevada, and Lynn Danielson of Roland. Her mother and two brothers, Lawrence and LaVerne, preceded her in death.
Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were from Hutchinson and Kandiyohi, Minn.; Atlantic, Guthrie Center, Albion, Melbourne, Kellogg, Des Moines, Fernald, Garden City, Radcliffe, Nevada, Ames, Story City, Whitten, Geneva, Storm Lake, McCallsburg, Colo, Mingo and Carlisle.
