William LeRoy Stemler March 3, 1928, to May 11, 2003
William LeRoy Stemler, 75, of Ames and formerly of Nevada, died Sunday, May 11, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
He was born March 3, 1928, in Iowa Center to Ora L. and Lizzie P. (Ligans) Stemler. He was a 1945 graduate of Nevada High School. He married Marlene Craig on Sept. 15, 1948, in Nevada. He was owner and operator of Stemler Milling and Mixing until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nevada.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene of Ames; two daughters, Susan (and Gail) Wilson of Alamo, Calif., and Linda Stemler of Ames; two grandsons, Andrew and Lee Wilson of California; and a sister, Dorothy Thompson of Nevada.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Craig LeRoy Stemler on April 26, 1975; and a sister, Laura Corbin on Nov. 4, 2000.
Private family burial of the cremains will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Nevada. A memorial fund has been established in LeRoy's name at First United Methodist Church, Nevada. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, is handling arrangements.
