Lola Verle Uitermark May 11, 1915, to March 1, 2003

Lola Verle (Chambers) Uitermark, 87, of Nevada, died of respiratory failure on Saturday, March 1, at Story County Long Term Care, where she had been a resident since June 2002.

She was born May 11, 1915, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Earl and Jane (Brink) Chambers. The family later moved to Crookston, Minn., where she attended school, completing a second year of high school before she began her working career. She married Harry Uitermark on May 23, 1935, in Crookston, Minn. They farmed in Crookston until 1948 when they moved to a farm near Otley. They farmed in the Otley/Monroe area several years before moving to Collins, where they farmed before retiring to their Nevada home in 1977. Lola was a homemaker and cook in the Maxwell/Collins area. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada and enjoyed gardening, sewing and canning.

Survivors include two daughters, Arliss (and Ken) Blackledge of Algona and Ione "Babe" (and John) Cleverly of Mingo; three sons, Dean "Pete" Uitermanrk of Roland, Doyle (and Lorraine) Uitermark of Huxley and Dwayne (and Julie) Uitermark of Homestead; 4 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Linda Freshwaters of Palmdale, Calif.; three brothers, Floyd "Bud" Chambers of Grand Forks, N.D., Bill Chambers of Lucedale, Miss., and Dale Chambers of Rochester, Minn.; and two sisters, June Fortier of Crookston, Monn., and Irene Whitney of Mesa, Ariz.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry on Jan. 28, 1990; a son, Danny Roy (Sonny) in 1968; and an infant son, Dwayne Lee in 1950.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5, at First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Memory Gardens, Nevada. Memorials may be directed to Story County Long Term Care. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
