Jack M. Schmitt, 61, a native of Colo, Iowa, died suddenly March 29 in Koahsiung, Taiwan, where he was directing E2 programs on behalf of the United States Navy and Information Spectrum, Inc., of Washington, D.D. His work was in coordination with the Taiwan Air Force.
He was born September 6, 1941, in Colo, and graduated from Colo High School in 1959. He graduated from St. Ambrose College in Davenport in 1967.
Survivors include his wife, Karen, formerly of Rock Island, IL; a daughter, Katherine Simon of Plymouth, MN; two sons, Brandon of Taichung, Taiwan, and Nicholas of Seattle, Washington: three grandchildren; and two sisters, Fran Johnson of Chicago, IL, and Joann Henle of Toledo.
Schmitt will receive full military honors on May 7 at 3 p.m. in burial at Arlington National Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for May 6 from 6-8 p.m. Donations may be contributed in his memory to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Foundation and will be directed to the T.C.
