JOSIE HORNBACHER
Josie Hornbacher died Monday, July 11, 1988, at Story County Hospital, Nevada IA, from complications from a stroke.
She was a resident of Long Term Care at the hospital and had formerly lived at The Meadows Apartments in Nevada.
She was born at Goldsberry MO on March 16, 1899, to William Turner and Cora Belle Hawkins.
She was married to Daniel Hornbacher on June 19, 1927, at Culbertson NE. He died in June, 1981.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 14, at 11 a.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nevada. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens at Nevada. Pastor Charles Dye of Nevada officiated.
Survivors include four sons, William Hornbacher of Loveland CO, Daniel Hornbacher Jr. of Loveland CO, James Hornbacher of North Platte NE and Vernon Hornbacher of Story City IA; four daughters, Mildred Bates of Layton UT, Erma Larson of Darien IL, Joyce Hadley of Nevada IA and Clara Jean Callison of Columbia SC; two sisters, Clara Horn of California and May Lord of Miami FL, 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hornbacher came to the Nevada area in 1942 from Nebraska where she had been a teacher. After her marriage she was a homemaker and had been a member of the Seveth-day Adventist Church at Nevada.
Visitation was held Wednesday, July 13, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames IA. The family greeted friends from 7-9 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
