Carl Huse, Jr. Jan. 31, 1927 to Dec. 17, 1997

Carl Huse, Jr., 70, of Nevada died of cancer at Mary Greeley Medical Center on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

He was born Jan. 13, 1927, in rural Story County to Carl and Eva (Myers) Huse, Sr. He was a 1946 graduate of Colo High School.

On Feb. 8, 1947, he married Dorothy Greenfield in Nevada. He worked as a mechanic for Iowa Electric Light and Power for 31 years, retiring in 1985. Hes memberships included First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Nevada Masonic Lodge #99 AF & AM and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Ames. His interests included woodworking, leatherwork, gardening, friends and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Nevada; a daughter, Joyce Duey (and husband Jerry) of Clinton; a son, Allan (and wife Kathy) of Sergeant Bluff; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Arlo of Nevada and Norman of Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral and Masonic services were held Saturday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor James W. King officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Nevada. Memorial contributions may be made to the Story County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
