THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

Lavon Quam, 88, of the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone and formerly of Ames, died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the home. Her body has been cremated and graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, in Story Memorial Gardens in Ames. Burial will follow the service.

Lavon was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Nevada, the daughter of Bert and Emma (Nelson) Warner. On April 19, 1946, she married Luther R. Quam in Bethany, Mo. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed needlepoint, embroidery, garage sales, cooking, especially Norwegian food, and playing cards and bingo. She lived in the Stanhope and Ames areas most of her life, moving to the Free Church Home in Boone in 2005.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice (Alfred D.) Frame, of Tulsa, Okla., and Vickie Young, of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Bonnie (Michael) Larrew, of Boone, Angela Terrones, of Tucson, Ariz., and Derek Terrones, of Carmel, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Angelique Terrones-Cruz, of Tucson, Ariz., and Cassidy Larrew, of Boone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Dale and Bill Warner; and one sister, Barbara Beck.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone is in charge of the arrangements.
