THE NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, May 14, 2009.

Jean Carolyn Miller was born at Battle Creek, Iowa on May 26, 1936, the daughter of Julius Hans and Rosa Margaret Greenwald Miller. She grew up in the Battle Creek area where she attended school and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1954. She attended business college for one year and then worked for an insurance company in Omaha, Nebraska. On October 3, 1959, she was
married to Dean LeRoy Way at Battle Creek.

They lived in Kennard, Nebraska where they operated a dairy farm. In 1964 they moved to Villisca where she was a mother and home maker. She liked playing bingo, cards, reading, "Scratch-offs" and going to the casino. She also enjoyed visiting friends and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her four children: Sheila and husband Jerry Bachman of Marshalltown, Iowa; Byron and wife Karen Way of Oakland, Iowa; Lori and husband Lee Peek of Lacygne, Kansas; and Brenda and husband Pat Doll of Hawk Point, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 5 great- grandchildren; two brothers: Gerald and wife Doris Miller of Battle Creek, Iowa, and Larry and wife Esther Miller of Woodstock, Virginia; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dean L. Way, and one sister Diana Miller.

Graveside services for Jean C. Way, 72, formerly of Nevada, were held Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the Villisca Cemetery in Villisca, Iowa, with Pastor Jerry Wagoner officiating. Memorials to be established.

Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca in charge of arrangements.
