Leonard Tendall Feb. 25, 1919 to Dec. 13, 2000

Leonard Tendall, 81, of Nevada, died of complications of Alzheimer's disease on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1919, in McCallsburg to Mickel and Christine (Mortvedt) Tendall. He was a 1937 Milford High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Marines and married Marian C. Davis on Nov. 19, 1948, in Nashua. He was a farmer and a member of the Roland American Legion. He was a lifelong Story County resident and enjoyed sports and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Marian, of Nevada; a daughter, Vicki Tendall of Nevada; four sons; Steve, Roger (and Val) and Mich (and Marcia), all of Nevada, and Tim of Indianola; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Grace Twedt of Ankeny, Kathryn Hemer of Des Moines and Dorothy Williams of Nevada.

His parents; a brother, Raymond; and an infant son preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 18, at 3 p.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland with Pastor Steve Schwartz officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the Nevada Senior Citizen Center in Nevada. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
