Jeannette G. Johansen

Jeannette Johansen, 83, of Nevada, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998 at the Story County Hospital of a heart attack. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m., at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with Rev. Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial was in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Jeannette Grace Johansen was born Aug. 5, 1915 in Roland, the daughter of Eli and Magdalena Annaniasen Johnson. She was a graduate of Roland High school and the Des Moines Beauty Academy. She was a beautician in Roland for a number of years, and also worked in Ames at Bourns in the cafeteria. On July 21, 1942 she married S. Ray Watson. They later divorced. She was then united in marriage to Ludwig Johansen in June of 1971. He preceded her in death in 1982. Jeannette was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada, the Ruth Circle, and the Nevada Sorosis Club.

Survivors include one son, Keith Watson and wife Pam of Tomball, Texas; one daughter, Kathy Roberts and husband, Gene, of Ames; four grandchildren; one step grandchild; two great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; two brothers, Marion Johnson of North Liberty, Iowa, and Herbert Johnson of Roland, and two sistrs, Agnes Hauser of Union, Iowa and Ethyleen Sampson of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two brothers, Earl Johnson and Julius Johnson; and one sister, Ruth Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church and/or the Scleroderma International Foundation.
