THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, April 17, 2009.

Lloyd A. Wissink, 85, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of natural causes. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 17, at St. John’s Lutheran Bennington Township Church, with burial in Bennington Township Cemetery, both in rural Waterloo. Public visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.

Lloyd A. Wissink was born April 21, 1923, in Waterloo, son of Ludwig and Elsa Tribon Wissink. He married Martha J. Davis Feb. 26, 1950, in Waterloo.

Mr. Wissink was a farmer, retiring in 1988. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of St. John’s Bennington Lutheran Church and served as president, as well as holding other offices in the Lutheran Brotherhood over a 50 year period. He was active in Farm Bureau, 4-H, the Republican Party and various bowling leagues. The past 15 years, he resided in Gilbert and belonged to Gilbert Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, of Waterloo; three daughters, Rebecca R. (Dick) Martin, of Wake Forest, N.C., Jacquelyn J. (Charles) Olson, of Ames, and Janet J. (Keith) Custer, of Dunkerton; one brother, Marvin (Bonnie) Wissink, of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Albert Wissink; and one sister, Emily Quigley.
