THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, April 17, 2009.

Dan Linder, 60, of Palestine, Texas, formerly of College Station, Texas, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Dan’s family will receive guests from noon until time of service.

Dan was born April 9, 1949, in Carroll, to Norm and Wynn Linder. He grew up in Ames and graduated from Ames High School in 1967. He served as a police officer in Iowa and Wisconsin and park ranger in Iowa. Dan was a hard worker, jack-of-all trades and loved being outdoors, especially fishing.

Dan moved to Texas in 1982 and worked at the Texas A&M Physical Plant for 13 years. A few years ago, he moved to Palestine to run a pool cleaning business, which he did until his health no longer allowed him to continue.

Survivors include his four children, Rick, Nicole, Danna, Matt and their families; three sisters, Lory, Toni, Kim and their families; and numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dan’s name, to the charity of your choice.
