Beverley A. Richard, 74, of Collins, Iowa, passed away Monday April 6, 2009 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Beverley was born January 31, 1935 in Austin, Minnesota to Carol and Helene (Hesselink) Ray. Her childhood was spent in Mobile, Alabama before moving to Pella, Iowa. She later moved to Des Moines, Iowa as a teenager.

It was in Des Moines, Iowa where she met and married her sweetheart, Raymond L. Richard on January 16, 1951. They raised five children together.

In the summer of 1976 they moved to an acreage south of Collins, Iowa, where she remained until her transfer to the Israel Family Hospice House on March 25, 2009. Beverley enjoyed camping, baking, annual trips to the Pella Tulip Festival, weekend getaway adventures with her daughters, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and, of course, her dog, Lucy.

Beverly is survived by four daughters, Vicky (Bobby) Smith of Des Moines, Iowa, Teresa (George) Kellen of Rhodes, Iowa, Debra Boetel of Nevada, Iowa, Diana (Tim) Schoppe of Zearing, Iowa, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Beverley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, one son, Michael Richard, and one grandson.

Visitation for Beverley will be Thursday, April 9 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Collins United Methodist Church in Collins, Iowa.

Her funeral service will be Friday, April 10 at 10:30 AM at the Collins United Methodist Church in Collins, with Pastor Lewis Flanigan officiating. Internment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins. The Fredregill Funeral Home in Collins, Iowa is in charge of her funeral arrangements.
