Beverley A. Richard, 74, of rural Collins, died Monday, April 6, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 10, at Collins United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Collins United Methodist Church.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Collins is in charge of arrangements.

Beverley A. Richard, 74, of Collins, passed away Monday April 6, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 10, at Collins United Methodist Church in Collins, with Pastor Lewis Flanigan officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Collins United Methodist Church in Collins.
Beverley was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Austin, Minn., to Carol and Helene (Hesselink) Ray. Her childhood was spent in Mobile, Ala., before moving to Pella. She later moved to Des Moines as a teenager.
It was in Des Moines where she met and married her sweetheart, Raymond L. Richard, on Jan. 16, 1951. They raised five children together.
In the summer of 1976, they moved to an acreage south of Collins, where she remained until her transfer to Israel Family Hospice House March 25, 2009.
She enjoyed camping, baking, annual trips to the Pella Tulip Festival, weekend getaway adventures with her daughters, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and, of course, her dog, Lucy.
She is survived by four daughters, Vicky (Bobby) Smith, of Des Moines, Teresa (George) Kellen, of Rhodes, Debra Boetel, of Nevada, and Diana (Tim) Schoppe, of Zearing; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; one son, Michael Richard; and one grandson.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Collins is in charge of arrangements.
