THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, March 20, 2009.

Dolores Agnes Chada, 89, of Lakewood, Colo., formerly of Fort Dodge and Ames, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Bethany Health in Lakewood. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Saturday, March 21, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Dr. James Chesnutt officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time today at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Dolores Agnes Targgart was born June 15, 1919, in Callender, the daughter of Victor Lavern and Agnes (Fibikar) Targgart. She graduated from Moorland High School in 1938. She married Clair A. Van Eps in 1938. Clair served in the Seabees during World War II and was killed in action on Iwo Jima in March 1945. On Nov. 27, 1947, Dolores married Theodore N. Chada in Fort Dodge. The couple moved to Ames from Fort Dodge in 1957, and Dolores was employed for a number of years with Carr’s Hardware in Ames. From 2004 to 2008, Dolores and Theodore resided at The Waterford in Ames. Theodore preceded Dolores in death on Oct. 10, 2008, and shortly thereafter, Dolores moved to Colorado to live near her daughter.

Dolores was active in the Fulton County 4-H and was involved with women’s social organizations. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ames.

Dolores is survived by her children, Janet Van Eps, of Edgewater, Colo., and Darwin Chada, of Renton, Wash.; four grandchildren, Tom, Alane, Doug and Andrew; and eight great-grandchildren.
