REV. J. S. DANCEY DIES AT KEOKUK

Was Pastor Here For Six Years

The Rev. Jesse S. Dancey, 60, pastor of the Collegiate Methodist church here from 1929 to September, 1935, died Tuesday afternoon at his home in Keokuk. He suffered a heart attack in December while speaking from the pulpit and had been in poor health since. Death was due to angina pectoris.

The Rev. Mr. Dancey served as pastor of the Ames church until last September, when he was transferred to the Trinity Methodist church at Keokuk.

After serving as chaplain in France during the World war, he returned to Chicago and served pastorates there and in Canton, O., and St. Louis, Mo. He was a graduate of Morningside college, Drew Theological seminary, Madison. N. J.. and the University of Missouri. While in Columbia, Mo., he was active in Wesley foundation student work.

Coming to Ames in 1929 he served in the dual position as pastor of the Collegiate Methodist church and director of the Wesley foundation. He was also active in Wesley foundation work in the state and in interdenominational work, having served as officer in the latter state organization.

He is survived by his wife and three children, Marcia, Alice and Thomas.

Funeral services will be held from the church at Keokuk Friday afternoon. The Rev. G. S. Nichols, pastor of the Collegiate Methodist church, and the Rev. Walter Morgan, pastor of the First Methodist church, and numerous other friends of the Rev. Mr. Dancey will attend the services.
