THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, Marcy 14, 2009.

Bertha Magdalene Deardorff, 93, daughter of Joseph and Marie (Beschorner) Bose, was born May 8, 1915, on a farm southeast of Yale. She passed away Friday, March 13, 2009, at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center.

Bertha graduated from Yale High School in 1933 and married Nyal Deardorff on December 25, 1937, in Bayard. They farmed together until moving to Yale in 1975. Bertha liked to crochet, sew, cook, traveling, music, square dancing and selling Avon. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Panora, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Yale Women’s Club.

She is survived by her sons; Dan and wife, La Rayne Deardorff, of Yale, and Kevin and wife, Donna Deardorff, of Ames. Daughters; Judi and husband, Marvin Smith, of Yale, and Karen and husband, Tom Lupardus, of Dallas Center; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nyal, infant son, Nyal, Jr., two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be 10: a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Panora. Burial will be in Yale Cemetery, Yale.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Vigil service at 7 p.m. at Beidelman-Twigg Funeral Home.
