THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, March 14, 2009.

Nina Naomi Porter, 96, formerly of Ames, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009, in Boise, Idaho. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Ames.

Naomi was born May 10, 1912, in Farlin, to Reinhold and Mary Monthei. In 1933, she graduated from Iowa State College in institutional management. She married Clarence L. Porter in 1939. They moved to Ames in 1957 and resided there for almost 40 years. Naomi taught home economics and English for several years. She was active in Eastern Star, Federated Women’s Club and served on the local and area boards of Camp Fire.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Montgomery, of Marietta, Ga., and Julia Jacobson, of Eagle, Idaho; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents; a brother; and two sisters.
