THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 5, 2009.

Mark F. Looschen, 82, of Ames, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Des Moines, with Father Al Aiton and Kathleen Bascom officiating.

Mark F. Looschen was born April 25, 1926, in Fremont, Neb., to Henry and Margaret (Murphy) Looschen. He was a preliminary bridge designer at the Department of Transportation. He also had served in the U.S. Army, in the last line of the Horse Cavalry.

He was a sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed music and was a member of the Ames Choral Society.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; one sister, Rosemary Cox, and nephew and nieces, Dennis Cox, Belinda Lafferty, Rose Marie Cox, Martha Hilliard and Mary Cox; and brother-in-law, John and Pat Brady, and nieces, Jana C. (Scott) Dewhurst and Joyce E. Brady.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul; his parents; and one nephew, David Cox.

Memorials may be given to Youth and Shelter Services, Catholic Charities or Episcopal Relief and Development Fund.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting with arrangements.
