Ellen Ragnilde Hovland, 103, Story City, died of congestive heart failure Wednesday Nov. 18. 1987 at Bethany Manor Nursing Home, Story City. A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Bethany Manor Chapel with the Rev. Ron Feuerhak officiating. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, with the Rev. Orville Sanderson and the Rev. Stephen Anenson officiating. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Ellen Henderson was born May 31, 1884, in Hamilton County to Nels and Anna (Skimland) Henderson. In 1908, she married Ole Hovland who preceded her in death in 1965. She was a homemaker and had farmed with her husband in Carpio, N.D., before moving to a farm near Story City in 1913. The couple moved to Story City from the farm in 1946.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Shold of Roland, Esther Olson and Lousie Tungesvick, both of Story City; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ole; two daughters, Mabel and Alma; two brothers; two stepbrothers; three sisters; two stepsisters; and one great-grandchild.
