THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 27, 2009.

Corinne M. (Kruger) Maurer, 84, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at The Gardens of Friendship Haven. The funeral service was at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge, with burial following at Corpus Christi Cemetery in Fort Dodge.

Corinne Maxine Wierson was born April 26, 1924, in Kenyon, Minn., the daughter of Eddie and Bertha (Sunness) Wierson. She graduated from Ames High School. She worked as a secretary for the Dean of Agriculture at Iowa State University.

On June 11, 1946, she married Dr. Robert W. Kruger, and they moved to Fort Dodge to start his dental practice. She worked as a dental assistant for him for many years. Robert preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1976. Corinne married Jim (J.W.) Maurer on Dec. 14, 1986. The couple spent more than 20 wonderful years traveling the world and spending time at their homes in Fort Dodge, Okoboji and Maui. Corinne loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed playing bridge and dancing.

She is survived by her second husband, Jim Maurer; her children, Dr. John (Vicki) Kruger, of Story City, Carolyn Kruger, of Omaha, Marilyn (Richard) Sprague, of Argyle, Texas, Paul Kruger, of Denver, Colo., Thomas Kruger, of Omaha, and Kathy (Steve) Hauck, of Humboldt; her stepchildren, Jo Anne (Don) Fortney, Jerrilyn (Del) Blankenhagen and Jimmie M. (Audrey) Maurer; 11 grandchildren, Kristine, Michael, Kimberly, Monica, Brenda, Todd, Whitney, Austin, Garrett, Brandon and Stephanie; seven great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Wierson; and her first husband, Robert.
