Christopher Daniel Hoyt, 24, died of respiratory failure Saturday, Nov 29, 2008, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec 5, at the First Evangelical Free Church in Ames. A meal and fellowship will follow at the church, with burial later at Ames Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec 4 at Adams Funeral Home.
Chris was born September 1, 1984 in Ames, Iowa. Chris loved music, warm pools, vigorous play, and the affection of family and friends.
Chris handled his life-long, severe disabilities and health conditions with a quiet, cheerful spirit that refreshed our hearts. He was favored by God with the expert attentions of doctors, caregivers and teachers in Ames, Iowa City, Johnston, and Nevada. He challenged individuals and institutions in his community to be more sensitive, flexible and inclusive. Many speak of his positive influence.
Chris will be missed by his mother, Deb (Jacobson) Hoyt; his father, Denny Hoyt; his brother, Jared David; grandparents Marnie (Shockley) Hoyt, MaryAnn Whittemore, and Jerry and Joni Jacobson; great aunt Franny Reed; and great aunt and uncle, Jan and Bill Ludwick. He will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Hoyt and uncle, Michael Hoyt.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to Rolling Green Nursing Home in Nevada.Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
