DIED: - At his residence near Peoria City Thursday Jan. 30, Mr. Adolph Fredrick George Kulow, aged 63 years, 9 months and 18 days.

Mr. Kulow was born in the Grand Dukedom, Macklenburg, Swereen, [sic Mecklenberg-Schwerin] Germany April 12, 1826, where he resided until the summer of 1851 when he emigrated to America and settled in Illinois where he lived until 1857 when he moved to Iowa, settling near Peoria City. He was a very kind hearted and accommodating man and in his twenty-five years in this neighborhood made many friends and acquaintances. He had been greatly afflicted for the past eleven years. While out riding a year ago last fall he was thrown from his buggy and received injuries that rendered him almost helpless since. In 1884 he visited the home of his childhood days in Germany in hopes of regaining his health but came back very little improved. He had been married twice and was the father of twelve children of whom eleven survive him. Funeral services were conducted in the new church at Peoria City Saturday, by Rev. Price, after which the remains were followed to their last resting place in the Peoria City cemetery by a large concourse of sorrowing friends.

PEORIA CITY - FROM KITTY WELLS (same edition of The Maxwell Tribune]

Death again has thrown its gloom over our neighborhood, its victim being Mr. Adolph Fredrick George Kulow, an old and respected citizen, well known to nearly every person in this community, as he has lived near here for over twenty-five years. His life and character need no comments from us, as none knew him but to respect him. He was benevolent and accommodating. No one ever left his house hungry if he knew it. He had been twice married and was the father of twelve children, of whom eleven survive him. He was a kind father, an affectionate husband and a good neighbor. The funeral was largely attended. Being a German by birth a large number of his countrymen were in attendance. We learn from his German records as translated by a friend of his, that he was born April 12th, 1826, in the Grand Dukedom in Macklenburg, Swereen, [sic Mecklenberg-Schwerin] Germany, emigrated to America in 1851, and died January 30, 1890 aged 63 years, 9 months and 18 days. Funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Price from Job 14th Chap. 14th verse. "If a man die shall he live again." His discourse was scientific, systematic and to the point, after which all that was mortal of neighbor Kulow was borne by the hears to the Peoria City cemetery and there laid to rest until Gabriel shall call earth's sleeping millions to a higher and nobler life. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all.
