NOBLE - James Noble was born in Marion County, Ohio, May 3, 1823. At an early age he moved with his parents to Indiana locating near the city of Marion. September 17, 1846 he was married to Jennie Cochran. They came to Iowa in the fall of 1869 and have lived ever since in this county. To them were born eight children as follows; Mrs. Mary Pulley of Indiana, John and Frank of Ames, Jacob of Belle Plain, Mrs. Sarah Arrasmith of Ames, Mrs. Belle Scott of Ames, Johnston who died when a young man and William who died in infancy.
Mrs. Noble departed this life November 24, 1895, since which time Mr. Noble has lived with his children. At the time of his death he was living with his daughter Mrs. John Scott on Kellogg street. Mr. Noble was a good man, a kind and affectionate husband and father, an obliging neighbor and a loyal citizen. He was raised in the Seceder Presbyterian church for which he had the greatest regard and the passing of which he sincerely deplored. He belonged to that sturdy type of character that courts loyalty to conviction and spurns popularity.
The funeral services will occur today at 2 p. m. at the Pleasant Grove church six miles north of Ames. The service will be delivered by Rev. H. D. Williams and the interment will be made in the cemetery near the church.
