Colo Youth Injured In Auto Accident In Detroit On Saturday

COLO - Joyce Lambeth, 24, former Colo youth, is in a critical condition in a Detroit hospital as a result of an auto accident Saturday evening. Joyce's parents received word late Saturday night for them to come at once but the telegram gave no particulars. Mrs. H. F. Lambeth, the boy's mother, left early Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon Mr. Lambeth received word that the boy had a fighting chance and Monday afternoon a third telegram informed him that Joyce had gained consciousness and had a good chance for recovery.

Joyce is a graduate of the Colo high school. Two years ago he took a position in Milwaukee, Wis., and about six months ago accepted his present position in Detroit.

Joyce Lambeth's Death Third of Violence in Family

COLO - Joyce Lambeth, 24, former Colo youth who suffered a concussion of the brain in an automobile accident in Detroit Saturday, April 5, died Monday at 12 m according to word received by Colo friends Monday afternoon.

No funeral arrangements have been made altho services and burial will be held in Colo.

This is the third tragic death in the Lambeth family. Several years ago a brother of Joyce was burned to death when a barn burned on the farm occupied by the family southeast of Colo. Five years ago last Thanksgiving the eldest brother was killed in an automobile accident in Los Angeles.

Surviving relatives include the boy's parents, a brother and sister, Hazel Bell and Bert at home, a brother Tom of Los Angeles, and a sister, Mrs. James Eacret of Pontiac, Ill.

Joyce was 23 years of age on Sept. 12. He was graduated from the Colo high school in 1923 and two years ago went to Milwaukee. He took a position at Detroit about six months ago.

Lambeth Rites To Be Held Friday At Colo Church

COLO - Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p. m. from the Methodist Episcopal church for Joyce D. Lambeth, 23 who died Monday In Detroit as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident there.

The Rev. M. C. Mililer, of Sloan, former pastor of the Colo Evangelical church, will be in charge of the services and burial will be in the Colo cemetery.

T. E. Lambeth, a brother, arrived here at 12:30 p. m. Thursday after driving 2163 miles from Los Angeles. He made the trip in 63 hours elapsed time. A sister, Mrs. J. D. Eacret and her husband, of Pontiac, Ill., arrived Wednesday night. The youth's mother was accompanied here by a friend, Mrs. H. W. Johns of Detroit.

Tragic Death Halts Rapid Rise in Business

COLO—Funeral services for the late Joyce Dorian Lambeth, son of Herbert F. and Nettie B. Lambeth were held in the M. E. church here Friday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. M.C. Miller of Sloan, a former pastor of the local Evangelical church, in charge. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Nellie Lounsberry, Mrs. Ica Rinehart, C. B. Wilson and John Lounsberry, with Mrs. S. B. Goodnow at the piano, provided the music. Pall bearers were: Loren Koehler, John Orr, Clare Niland, William Wyatt, Roy Shepard, Watson Donaldson, Wilbur Webb and Russell Hopkins. Flower bearers were: Mrs. Lois Veager, Mrs. Jessie Fleming, and Mrs. Pauline Olson. Interment was in the Colo Cemetery.

Among the relatives and friends present were Tom Lambert and Sidney Bannon of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. James B. Eacret of Pontiac, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. H. W. John, and C. C. Gilmore of Milwaukee, Wis.; Verline Adkin of Grinnell; Mrs. Belle Fish and Mrs. Edgar Fish of Brainerd, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Eacret of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Fish and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Dickinson of Maxwell, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Thornton of Collins.

Death came in the Harper hospital in Detroit, April 14, as the result of injuries in an automobile accident several days previous.

The deceased was born near Colo, September 12, 1905, began his education in the Colo schools, and was graduated with the class of '23. From the fall of 1927 until February 1928, he was employed at Milwaukee. Terminating his employment there, he joined with a hoist company with whom he continued until his death, rising in the meantime to the position of assistant manager of the branch office in Detroit.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Loran, 8, who was killed by lightning, and Garland, 26, who was killed in an automobile accident in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1924.
