Mrs. L. A. Murphy of New York City arrived in Ames Thursday morning, called here by the critical illness of her mother, Mrs. H. R. Minkler who suffered a stroke of paralysis Saturday night. Another daughter, Mrs. A. C. Vail of Sioux Rapids, has been with her mother since Sunday.

MRS. E. V. E. MINKLER DIES EARLY SATURDAY

Mrs. Esther Van Eman Minkler, 71 years old, a resident of Story county for nearly 50 years, died about 3 a. m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Ringgenberg, southwest of Ames. She had been an invalid since she suffered a stroke of paralysis four years ago, but had been seriously ill for only the past week.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at the Adams chapel, and will be conducted by the Rev. H. S. Wilkinson of the First Methodist church. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.

Mrs. Minkler was born in Rochelle, Ill., in 1859, and was married in 1882 to Harmon R. Minkler, coming with him to Milford township the following year. In 1907, the family left its home in Milford township to come to Ames. Mr. Minkier died in 1923. When Mrs. Minkler became ill four year ago she went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ringgenberg. She was a member of the Methodist church from her childhood.

Mrs. Minkler is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ringgenberg, Mrs. Estella Vail of Sioux Rapids, and Mrs. Mildred Murphey of New York. N. Y., one son, Warren E. Minkler of Philadelphia, two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Freeman of Minneapolis, and Mrs. B. E. Wade of Seattle and six grandchildren.
