Jean Marie Webb, formerly of Ames, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Lincoln Neb. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Jean Marie was born June 6, 1928, in Sulphur Springs. She was the second child, first daughter, of George G. and Christina M. (Carstensen) Bryant. She graduated from Providence Consolidated School in Sulphur Springs in 1945, earned a bachelor's degree from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake in 1967, and a master's degree from Iowa State University in Ames in 1975.

Jean and Paul E. Blair were married in 1949. They were parents of two sons. She married John R. Webb in 1975.

She was an elementary school teacher for a few years. She earned a Lifetime Teaching Certificate from the state of Iowa. Later, she supervised student teachers from Iowa State University.

She was one of the original group of eight Goodwill Ambassadors for the Ames Convention Bureau and a volunteer for preschool and elementary school activities, church, hospitals and a nursing home. Other interests were playing the piano and working jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her sons, David P. Blair and his wife, Susan, of Omaha, Neb., and Richard A. Blair and his partner, Genaro Valverde, of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Patrick Blair and Megan Blair, of Ames; one brother, George R. (Sharon) Bryant, of Harcourt; two sisters, Carol McMullen, of Webb, and Roberta (Robert) Raab, of St. Paul, Minn.; and one niece, eight nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Webb, one niece and one brother-in-law.

Memorials may be given to HoriSun Hospice, 249 Cherry Hill Blvd., Suite 1, Lincoln, NE, 68510, The Monarch House, 4201 So. 78, Lincoln, NE, or personal choice.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with local arrangements.
