A. H. HAKES DIES IN CEDAR RAPIDS

GRANT TWP., Jan. 27. - A. H. Hakes, pioneer resident of the Grant township community, died at 10 o'clock this morning at a Cedar Rapids hospital from the results of a stroke about a week ago. No funeral arrangements have been made.

Mr. Hakes went to Cedar Rapids with his daughter and her husbasd, Mr. and Mrs. George Marsh, during the Christmas holidays. He was visiting at the home of his sister, Mrs. A. C. Port at Cedar Rapids, at the time of his death.

Following the stroke, relatives were called to his bedside but he appeared improved until Sunday. All the children were in Cedar Rapids at the time of Mr. Hake's death.

Surviving children are: Mrs. Ben Mather and Mrs. George Marsh, both of Grant township; Ralph of Grant township; Mrs. Howard Olinger of Ventura; and Vance of Amboy, Minn.

Ralph has farmed the old Hake homestead since his father retired several years ago.

Two sons and Mrs. Hake preceded Mr. Hake in death.

A. H. Hakes Rites Planned Wednesday

Funeral services for A. H. Hakes, pioneer resident of Grant township, who died Monday morning at Cedar Rapids, will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Adams chapel. Burial will be at Lorenz, Iowa. The body will arrive in Ames this evening.

Mr. Hakes had been visiting at the home of his sister, Mrs. A. C. Port, since the holidays. He suffered a stroke about a week ago.

Four children survive. Two sons and his wife preceded Mr. Hake in death.
