AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, August 17, 2008.

Anne "Babi" L. Viktora, 96, died peacefully Friday, Aug. 15, at Bethany Manor in Story City, which has been her home for the past three years. Memorial service and celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, in Bethany Manor Chapel, 212 Lafayette Ave., Story City. Inurnment will be at a later date in Bohemian National Cemetery of Chicago.

Babi was born Nov. 12, 1911, in Chicago, the daughter of Anton and Anna (Vlk) Feitl. She married Ladimir Viktora Nov. 14, 1932, in Chicago. Their only child was born in 1940. Ladimir preceded her in death in November 1969. For 28 years, she was employed by the Czechoslovak Society of America, retiring in 1986. She lived in North Riverside, Ill., from 1948 to 1991. She then moved to Ames to live with her daughter and son, Leonore (Lenny) and Duane Mangold.

She was an avid reader and a lifelong learner, having been a Czech language teacher during her early married years; a volunteer at Northwood Elementary School in Ames; and participated in College for Seniors at Iowa State University. She was an excellent cook and baker. She loved traveling and took daily walks into her 90s. She easily made, kept and cherished friends.

She was the beloved mother of Leonore "Lenny" and Duane Mangold, of Ames; grandmother of Anne and Bill Johnson, of Fulton, Mo., Amy and Attila Konkoly of Eden Prairie, Minn.; great-grandmother of Heather and Courtney Johnson and Ibolya, Bela and Akos Konkoly; and sister of Mildred Pultorak, of Westchester, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Anton Feitl Jr.; and one sister, Val Lovitsch.
