Richard Dean Sesker, 72, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at his home near Dexter, of complications from diabetes and heart disease. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Luncheon will follow at the Maxwell Area Community Center. Inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Cambridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.

Richard Dean Sesker was born March 9, 1936, near Cambridge, to Tolferd E. and Alma (Adams) Sesker. Rich grew up in the Maxwell/Cambridge area, graduating from Maxwell High School in 1955. Following graduation, he farmed. While farming, he also worked at Eagle Iowa Works and for Joe Hartley Trucking.

On Oct. 25, 1958, he married Marilyn Thompson. Five children were born to this union, Steven, Susan, John, Shari and Gene. In 1981, he moved his family to Nebraska where he worked for Hendrickson Land and Cattle Company at Kearney. In 1983, bringing his family and following his daughter, he moved to Earlham, where he worked for Hunter Management. He retired in 1994 and moved to rural Dexter in 2007.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; son, Steve (Shellee) Sesker; daughter, Shari (Kevin) Smith; son, Gene (Steph) Sesker; seven grandchildren, Randi Sesker, Andrew Sesker, Justine (Joe) Miller, Chelsea Smith, Riley Smith, Derrin Sesker and Justin Sesker; three sisters, Norma Goff, of Maryville, Tenn., Diane Andeway, of Oskaloosa, and Kay Coughenour, of Maxwell.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Susan; and a son, John.

Memorials may be made to the Richard Sesker Memorial Fund.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of services.
