Feb. 11, 1917-July 26, 2008

Nina Stanton Gant, 91, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Inurnment will be at a later date in Cedarville, N.J. Memorials may be directed to Asbury College.

Nina was born Feb. 11, 1917, in Cedarville, N.J., to Harry and Rose (Spencer) Stanton. She graduated from Bridgeton High School in Bridgeton, N.J., in 1934, and from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., in 1938. She married Rev. Harland Gant June 27, 1942, in Cedarville, N.J.

She had been a high school history teacher, homemaker, Sunday school teacher, Scout leader, 4-H leader, long-time PEO sister and active in United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her four children, son Harland (Shannon) Gant Jr., of Kansas City, Mo., daughter Rosemary (Rev. James) Dotson, of Dubuque, son David (Anne) Gant, of Apple Valley, Minn., and daughter Susan Gant, of Ames; five grandchildren, Peter (Alison) Dotson, of Minneapolis, Susannah Dotson, of Chicago, Michael Gant, of Columbus, Ohio, and Sarah Gant and Christopher Gant, of Minneapolis; one sister, Eleanor Moore, of Cedarville, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev. Harland Gant; one brother, Stanley Stanton; and two sisters, Alma Doughty and Mildred Stanton.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements.
