Ronald Johnson, 56, of West Des Moines, died Friday, July 18, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Private family services followed by cremation will be Wednesday, July 23, at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Ronald Stephen Johnson was born Dec. 26, 1951, in LeMars, to Walter J. and Lola (Mai) Johnson. He grew up in Westside, graduating from Carroll Kuemper High School in 1970. He graduated from Iowa State University. He worked for 3M, Wells Fargo and the state of Iowa as a computer software technician. He loved horticulture, cooking, music, volleyball and was an avid Iowa State fan.

He is survived by his mother, Lola Johnson, of Westside; four brothers, Tom, of Ogden, Russ (and special friend, Donna), of Jewell, Paul (Gail), of Radcliffe, and Mike, of Eugene, Ore.; three sisters, Karen (Gary) Danzer, of St. Charles, Ill., Diane (Mark Bowers) Johnson, of Ames, Joan (Tom) Bougetz, of Portland, Ore.; an uncle and aunt, Dick and Mary Johnson, of Waukesha, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established, gifts may be sent to Ronald Johnson Memorial Fund, Box 254, Jewell, IA, 50130.

Becker Funeral and Cremation Service of Jewell is in charge of arrangements.
