Andrew Tuttle, who was a resident of this community for many years, died at the county home on Thursday, December 4, being almost 95 years old at the time of his death. Funeral services were held in Grace church in Story City on Tuesday, December 9, Rev. Orth officiating.
Andrew Tuttle was born in Norway March 24, 1830. In 1851 he was married to Miss Thurma Thompson, also of Norway. In 1854 he with his wife emigrated to the United States and located at Leland, Ill., where the family resided until after some years they removed to Marengo. Iowa, and thence in 1875 to Story county, Iowa
For over twenty years he lived on his farm 4 miles south of Roland. His wife having died, he was married again and soon thereafter moved to Story City where he lived about 28 years.
He had always taken care of himself and enjoyed good health up to about three years ago, when he took sick and since which time he gradually weakened until the end came on December 4, 1924, at the advanced age of 94 years, 8 months and 10 days. Death came to him at the county home, where he had been cared for during the past year.
He is believed to have been the oldest person in Story county. While still able to be in the services of the church, of which he was also a member; he was usually present and enjoyed the services as long as he was able to attend.
There remain to mourn his departure, six sons, Abe and Joe Tuttle of Elmore, Minn., George A. of Winnebago, Minn.,Charles S. of California, and Thomas M. and Martin H. of Chicago, Ill.; also one daughter, Mrs. Ed Jensen of Story City, besides 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and many friends.
