Max L. Sowers, a well known young farmer of just north of the city and a member of a prominent family of the cummunity died at his home yesterday morning from heart complication, following an attack of influenza and bronchial pneumonia. Interment will be at the Nevada cemetery this afternoon at 3:00, following a brief private services at the grave.
Mr. Sowers was taken ill on Thursday of last week and on Sunday pneumonia developed and he grew gradually worse until, death called him. Mr. Sowers had suffered with heart complications in the past and the attending physicians state that death was due primarily to that cause.
Max L. Sowers was a native of the county, being a son of James w. Sowers and his late wife, born in Milford township on August 9, 1876. He was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Allen in March, 1902 and to them two children have been born, they being twin sons William and Allen and they with the wife and mother survive.
He is also survived by his father and a number of brothers and sisters all of whom with the exception of the one sister Mildred who is a Oberlin, O., in school, will be here this afternoon to attend the services.
The death of Mr. Sowers was a great shock to the community where he was widely known and most universally respected. He had been ill for so short a time that few people had realized that his condition was so serious and when word reached the city yesterday morning that he was dead there were but few people who could bring themselves to realize that it could be true.
Mrs. Sowers and the children, as well as the father, brothers and sisters of the community will be accorded the heartfelt sympathy of all in their hours of bereavement and all hope that the wife and children who are ill will be able to bear up under the load and recover from their illness.
The funeral services which will be necessarily brief, will be in charge of Rev. R. M. Shipman.
Besides his wife and sons he leaves his father and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Blanche Boyes of Howard township; George Sowers of Milford township; Henry Sowers of Nevada; Howard Sowers of Milford; Mrs. Jessie Montgomery of Mason City; Mrs. Syble Montgomery of Grant township; Miss Sylva Sowers at home, Dr. James Sowers of Brancroft, Miss Irma Sowers at home and Miss Mildred Sowers, now in college at Oberlin, Ohio.
