Andrew Nathinael Brodie, 76, of 302 S Av., died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 1983 at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at the Nevada United Methodist Church with Rev, Harold Wagner officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial will be at the Evergreen Memory Garden, rural Nevada.
Andrew Brodie was born Jan. 7, 1907 to William McDugal and Rose Allie (Guge) Brodie on a farm near Maxwell.
He married Irene Gipsen on Nov. 4, 1945 in Ames. Brodie farmed in the Fernald area for four years and the Milford area for 53 years before retiring in 1980.
Brodie was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church, where he served on serveral boards. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 99, Nevada, and the Scotish Rite in Des Moines. He also served for several years on the Story County Extension Service.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; one son, Craig L. of Nevada; two brothers John and Ralph, both of Nevada; four sisters, Mabel Larson of Huxley, Mary Bond and Roselma Hansen of Ames and Jennie Christy of Nevada; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Kenneth, William and Robert.---from the Nevada Journal
