Bernice A. Dodds, 84, rural route #1, Ames, Iowa, died at North Grand Care Center in Ames on Monday, January 28, 1980.
Dodds was born May 28, 1895 to William R. Dodds and Hattie Allen Dodds. He attended the Franklin Township schools, and was graduated from Ames High School. He also attended Iowa State College.
He was a long time farmer, a member of the Ames Elk Lodge, a lifetime member of the Farm Bureau, served on the Story County Fair Board, and Story County Soil Conservation Commission for 25 years.
He married Ella Mae Miller on February 27, 1918, in Ames. She preceded him in death on September 18, 1979.
Survivors include two sons, James M. Dodds, and William E. Dodds, both rural route Ames; two daughters Mrs. Art (Marie) Sande, Ames, and Mrs. Arnold (Norma) Lande of Webster City; one brother, Galen Dodds, one sister, Mildred Taylor, both of Ames and seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. from Adams Funeral Home in Ames. The Rev. Allen Sparks will be in charge.
Burial will be at the Gilbert Cemetery.
A memorial has been established and gifts may be left at the Story County State Bank, Story City.
