Ella Mae Miller Dodds, 85, died September 18, 1979, at the Story County Hospital in Nevada after a long illness.
Funeral services were held in the Gilbert Congregational Church with the Rev. Allen Sparks officiating, on Thrusday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. Burial was at the Gilbert Cemetery.
Mrs. Dodds was born in Ames, Iowa on March 17, 1894, to Edward A. and Jessie (Drummond) Miller, pioneer Ames residents. She graduated from Ames High School and taught in various country schools. She married Bernice A. Dodds on February 27, 1918 and moved to a farm east of Gilbert where they resided the past 61 years.
She was a active supporter of the Farm Bureau and 4-H club activities for many years. She was a long-time member of the Gilbert Congregational Church.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Marie (Mrs. Art) Sande, Ames, and Norma (Mrs. Arnold) Lande, Webster City, two sons, William E. (Bill) and James M. (Jim) both of Ames, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dodds was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, George, Sidney, and Frank, and a great-granddaughter.
A memorial fund has been established.
