Sylvia Maude Sowers, 93, died Thursday, June 21 in Bountiful, Utah.
Born July 4, 1885 in Milford Township, Story County to J. W. and Alice Jeanette Sowers, she married Ernest Carey, June 9. 1920. She was a former teacher and homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Maxine Patterson of Bountilful, Utah, one granddaughter, Linda Alberts, and one great grandson, James Raymond Alberts of Iowa City, two sisters, Jessie Mongomery of Long Term Care Center, Story County Hopital in Nevada and Mildred Sowers of Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Alice Jane Jones, one great granddaughter, Sylvia Jones, five brothers and four sisters.
Graveside services are Tuesday, June 26 at Ames Cemetery at noon. Adams Funeral Home of Ames is in charge of arrangements.
