Mrs. Sowers Rites Will Be Held Thurs.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Sowers, 64, who died at her home at 826 Eighth street Tuesday, will be held from the Adams chapel at 2 p.m., Thursday, with Dr. J. O. Simon of Nevada, a friend of the family, in charge. Burial will be in the Ames cemetery.
Mrs. Margaret Watts Sowers was born in Afton, Wis., Oct. 12, 1872, but moved with her parents to Ames when four years old. Her father, John Watts, published the Ames Intelligencer for a number of years, and afterwards became editor of the Des Moines Leader.
Mrs. Sowers was graduated from the West Des Moines high school and taught in the kindergarten of the Olive McHenry school in Des Moines. She taught in the elementary grades at Ida Grove for a short time and then returned to Ames, where she taught for 27 years. She was principal of Beardshear school for several years.
Active in civic affairs, she was a member of the Ames Woman's club and the Book and Basket club and had served as a member of the city library board.
Surviving are her husband, E. E, Sowers, one son, Frank of Chicago, four sisters, Mrs. Frank Schleiter of Ames, Mrs. O. L. Leefers of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. M. H. Federson of Des Moines and Mrs. Fred Schreiber of New York city, two brothers, Andrew and William Watts of California.
