Dorothy Dohlman, age 77, of Ackley, died on
Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, located at 2nd and Hardin Streets in Ackley with burial at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Sietsema funeral Home in Ackley.The family would like to thank you for your many acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy and invite you to a time of fellowship at church following the services.
Dorothy Ellen Smith was born on January 27, 1930 in Champaign County in Penfield, IL, the
daughter of Ray and Rose (Mennenga) Smith. When Dorothy was 12, the family moved to a farm north of Ackley. In 1945 the family moved to town where Dorothy graduated from the Ackley High School in 1948. Dorothy then attended ISTC College to get her teaching certificate which she used to teach in Grundy County for two years. On July 8, 1950, Dorothy married Earl Dohlman. They had/ six children, Paul, David, Pam, Tom, Tim and Tracy. Dorothy worked at the Presbyterian Village for over 30 years. Her hobbies were playing cards, Boat Club, and Congret Meals. She was a member of the United Methodist
Church in Ackley.Dorothy is survived by her six children, nine
grandchildren, along with four sisters, Ethel, Gertrude, Doris, and Grace. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Earl (4/22/94), one sister, Mary and three brothers Henry, Harold, and Raymond.
