Jerry Evan Samson passed away at home February 19, 2007. He was born June 9, 1942 in Nevada, Iowa to Keesee Fred Samson and Lillian Irene Jones Samson. He attended school in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School where he held the school record for the discus for around 40 years. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He married his high school sweetheart Charon Lee Wycoff in 1962. He joined the California Highway Patrol in 1966, transferred to the Nevada Highway Patrol in 1972 and was stationed in Caliente, NV. He quit NHP in 1979 and went to work for UPS until the time of his death. He also served as a member of the Lincoln County School Board for several terms. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge for many years.
He loved Lincoln County for the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing and just roaming the hills to look at the ever-changing scenery every year. His other hobbies included shooting and he was a member of the local gun clubs. In his younger years he had an avid love for flying and had his own plane. In the winter months he spent long sessions on the computer. He thoroughly enjoyed professional sports and spent many hours in front of the TV. He enjoyed it so much it was necessary to get another TV so his wife could watch something else.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 older brothers.
He is survived in death by his wife Charon, son Aaron (Angelina) Samson of Caliente and daughter Lacee Samson Pierce of Aurora, CO and 9 grandchildren.
