Celebration of Life services for Ruby Olive Olson, 91, of Fairmont, Minnesota, were held Friday, April 25, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial followed at Lake Belt Cemetery in Ceylon, Minnesota. Ruby went home to heaven on Monday evening, April 21, 2008 at the Fairmont Medical Center Mayo Health Systems. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ruby Olive Teig was born April 26, 1916 in Jewell, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Johanna (Grimsley) Teig. She attended country school in Jewell. On June 8, 1935, she was united in marriage to Alfred Olson. In 1936, they moved to Ceylon where they farmed for many years. They also lived in Hector and Hutchinson. In 1968, she earned her high school diploma. Ruby worked as a nurse's aide at the Fairmont Community Hospital where she retired in 1986. She was also a home health provider for others.

Ruby was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she belonged to Martha Circle, Kennagers and other church organizations. Ruby was the 2001 recipient of the Golden Deed Award. She also volunteered for the Blood Mobile and Fairmont Hospital Auxiliary until the fall of 2007.

Ruby is survived by daughters, Ramona Andersen and husband, Orville of Sumner, Washington, Julaine Markquart and husband, Wayne, of Thompson Falls, Montana, Jan Mills Asphom of Boone, Joy Dillon and husband, Joe, of Fairmont, Minnesota, Shireen Toutant and husband, Michael, of Freeport, Maine, Denise Barnes and husband, Steve of New Ulm, Minnesota, Doreen Malone and husband, Mike of Spirit Lake, Leann Bach and husband Ted of Wellington, Florida, and Lori Mau of North Pole, Alaska; sons, Matt Olson and wife, Barb, of Rochester, Minnesota, Glen Olson and wife Elizabeth of Heber, Arizona, Lyle Olson and wife, Judi, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Craig Olson and wife, Pam, of Fairmont, Minnesota; 88 grandchildren and great-granchildren; brother, Ray Teig and wife, Mary of Branson, - Missouri.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marlene Naylore; brothers, Mervin Teig, Luther Teig, and sister, Sylvia Heller.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church, Fairmont Medical Center Mayo Health System or Young Life.
