THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, May 9, 2008.

Jacob "Jack" Korowitz, 87, of Ames and formerly of Sharon, Mass., and New York City, died Wednesday, May 7, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Jacob was a union painter in New York and devoted his life to loving and caring for his family.

He is survived by one son, Simon Korowitz, of Sharon, Mass.; one daughter, Carol Jacobson, of Ames; four grandchildren, Laurie Korowitz-Coutu, Jodi Mirabile, and Mark and David Jacobson; one great-granddaughter, Madison Lilly Mirabile; and one brother, Frank, of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Lottie Korowitz; and his wife, Lillian.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association in Jacob's memory.

Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines and Sinai Chapels in Fresh Meadows, N.Y., are in charge of arrangements.
