THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, April 16, 2008.
Dorothy Anna Rademacher was born Jan. 19, 1916 in Shiocton, Wisconsin to Curtis Walker and Alma Hidde Walker, who lived in the New London and North Port, Wisconsin areas until the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin when Dorothy was 11 years old. The family lived on Sarnow Place. Warren and Dorothy met and dated for two years until they were married in Milwaukee at the Church of the Reformation, on May 17, 1941. Three years later, John was born and in 1946, JoAnn arrived. In 1955, Warren and Dorothy made their journey to Ames, Iowa, except for a 12 year period, when they lived in Bella Vista, Arkansas. After returning from living in Bella Vista to Ames, Warren and Dorothy resided at Northcrest Retirement Community. After several years there, Dorothy was moved to Heartwood House in the Northcrest Community and soon after Warren resided in Northcrest Care Center. How happy Dorothy was to have Warren close to her side completing their lives together in the same complex. Dorothy enjoyed singing, dancing and celebrating life with Warren. She loved Warren playing his accordion in the complex. Though many church services at Bethesda Lutheran Church were missed at the end of their lives, they were members of Bethesda Lutheran Church since 1954.
In the spring of 2007, Warren wrote this about Dorothy prior to his death on September 23, 2007.
"Dorothy was a wonderful mother and wife. She is the love of my life from the very beginning and still is. I look forward to being with her in that special place called heaven, where there is no strife, but only peace. Thank you, Lord, for this wonderful life you have given Dorothy and me. Our life is complete whenever and wherever it ends. Dorothy, I love you for eternity. With deepest Love, Warren"
