John "Bud" David Furman, 83, of Nevada, died on Friday, March 21, 2008 at Story County Long Term Care. Graveside services were held on Monday, March 24, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell, with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating.
John was born on February 19, 1925 at home in Jewell to Clifton and Orpha (Nemecek) Furman. He was a graduate of Jewell High School. On June 3, 1944, John married June Ann Alvestad in Jewell. They moved to Nevada in 1964. He was a farmer and had also been employed at Nevada Hardware, Sundstrand, Shrocks Fertilizer Plant, and Iowa State Vet Clinic. John was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.
John is survived by 2 sons, David Michael Furman of Council Bluffs and John David Furman Jr. of Nevada; 2 daughters, Mary Kathleen (Robert) Drain of Waukesha, WI and Cynthia Ann (John) Sime of Nevada; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, George Furman of Thousand Palms, CA; and a sister Dorothy Hanson, of Great Falls, MT
John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife June on October 2, 1992, a son Myron Paul Furman in January of 2004, 2 sisters, Betty Morey and Marilyn Middlekauss.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 23 at Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada.
A memorial fund has been established.
